Brian Kolfage Pushes Back Against Shep Smith’s Claims Trump Has Built No New Wall

Last Wednesday, longtime Trump antagonist & Fox News anchor, Shepard Smith, claimed that the president has built no new sections of border wall. Smith made the remark after President Trump Tweeted out a CBP video of a portion of the border wall that is under construction, stating that “The wall is going up very fast…”

The Hill reported:

“Fox News chief anchor Shepard Smith on Wednesday disputed President Trump’s recent remarks about border wall construction, saying on air that “there is no new wall.”

Smith’s remarks were in response to a tweet from the president that said the wall is “going up very fast.”

“So far, despite the president’s claims to the contrary, there is no new wall,” Smith said. “Existing barriers have been replaced. Same span. The total of repaired barrier is about 60 miles along that 2,000-mile border.”

“The president also said in the tweet that the wall is going up rapidly. It is not. As we just reported, there’s no new wall. Only replacement for walls which were in need of repair or upgrade. Those are the facts,” Smith added.”

WATCH:

The problem with Smith’s claim is:

  1. There was never any wall in some of the places it is being built
  2. Trump never claimed that it was “new wall” in his Tweet, although he could have & he would have been factually correct

Brian Kolfage, who just oversaw the completion of our first section of border wall, took umbrage with Smith’s claims & those made by hosts on CNN and proceeded to dismantle them in a series of Twitter posts.

We have visited several border states & toured sections that only had Normandy barrier or metal posts in the ground in order to keep vehicles out. Many of the sites we toured had no pedestrian barriers, such as bollard walls.

Smith is wrong to say that President Trump has built “no new wall.” There wasn’t a wall in the places the government is building. Trump is absolutely putting up “new wall.”

In the meantime, We Build the Wall has constructed our first section of border wall where none existed before. We’re about to start on sections 2 & 3 soon, too. Smith should put that in his pipe & smoke it.
